When a death occurs it is always difficult to know what to do first. Our aim at Crowsons Funeral Directors is to provide our clients with a service that will offer them the guidance they need at each stage of the arranging process in an open, empathetic and considerate manner. If the death should take place in a hospital, hospice or residential care home, then the immediate steps are taken by members of the care staff following their set procedures.
At home, the first practical step to be taken is for the doctor to be contacted to confirm and certify the death. Following confirmation, the family may wish to contact us to arrange for the deceased to be brought into our care.
We are available by telephone 24 hours to advise and provide practical help.
Arranging a funeral
We can be contacted by telephone at any hour of the day or night, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.
We would require some basic information in order for us to arrange the collection of the deceased either from the home, hospital or place of death at the earliest convenience.
The next step would be to meet with the next of kin/ executor to discuss the available options and the coordination of funeral requirements, usually our Funeral Directors will visit you in the convenience of your own home but if you prefer you can visit our offices.
We would discuss:
- Options, availability and booking of the funeral venue and funeral officiant
- Planning the funeral transport
- The necessary registration and administration requirements
